2018 Nominal GDP Cartogram, subdivisions of the top 16 countries included.

I was wondering how a world GDP cartogram would look like if there are subdivisions of major countries involved. So I made this thing. Most of the subdivisions followed the first level admin divisions, but UK, Russia and Indonesia were divided in simpler ways, there’s not enough space for all those federal subjects, counties & provinces.
About the source:
- Data of the countries were from IMF, Nominal GDP
- Data of subdivisions were from each government’s Stats & Estimates(for example: US Census Bureau & Euro Stats)
Because the latest subdivision data of Japan. India. France. UK. Italy. Brazil. South Korea. Spain & Mexico I can find were still outdated (2015~2017), I estimated their 2018 stats by this formula: “national GDP in 2018 x % of subdivision participation (2015-2017)” Thus, this cartograph is best seen as an overview of World GDP distribution. It’s more accurate in a country scale, but can be a bit vague in subdivision scale.
