COLUMBUS, Ohio — The first day of the 2016 NFL Draft was always going to be a big one for Ohio State. Any time you have multiple players from your program selected in the first round, it makes for a special day. But that was the thinking when it looked like the Buckeyes might have three or four first round picks. Now they could have as many as six. Maybe seven? There’s so much time between now and the draft in April, plenty of chances for guys to rise and fall. Right now the Buckeyes have a real shot at challenging the Miami Hurricanes record for most first round picks in one year. Miami had six in 2004. That boost for Ohio State is coming from Braxton Miller. Miller made the most of his time at the Senior Bowl last week, and is now in the conversation to be a first round pick. That sounds crazy for a guy who played receiver for one year and barely had any part in Ohio State’s offense in 2015, but that’s where we are. So with Miller in that talk now, we thought it was time to take another look at where mock drafts are projecting the Buckeyes. Here’s a look at the first mock draft roundup, so you can get a better sense of how guys moved around. And below is the second edition of the NFL Draft 2016 mock roundup: I do like Miller I see him going by the Browns in late round. Our receivers will be amazing with Gordon, assume we have Marvin Jones and Sanu. Miller, Gabriel and Hawkins. Miller is too much of a risk to be taken in the first round. He has the tools, but other than the Va Tech game, he was barely utilized during the season. I see him going in the 3rd round and you know the Pats are keeping their eye on him. They love projects. @Dave Marshack Why Elliot? Speed and power. Probably best RB prospect since Adrian Peterson. Never any guarantees, but Zeke has all the tools to be successful. Braxton Miller is a mid round pick at best. He is a very risky pick any higher. He may be worth a late round flyer. If he played for any other college team people here would be saying NO WAY…. @PerchTacos2 Were Josh Cribbs and Julian Edelman LESS risky? They both would be deserving of mid-round picks if they had been accurately selected. Miller I see as a 2nd-3rd round pick. 1st round? That’s nuts. But hey, all it takes is one team. That said, I think BM can be a good pro, but 1st round is a big reach. @lwood11720 Please all the OSU homers here would say its the best move ever if the Browns drafted him with their 2nd round pick. The Buckeyes will have at least 6 players in the 1st Rd ….. Oh Baby ! Braxton Miller needs to be one of those players . Braxton Miller at 6’1 1/2 ‘ and 205 lbs will make a great punt returner or H-Back Or Wr in the NFL . The real Question is ..Where is 6’5’ 255 lb Qb Cardale Jones headed … he’s undefeated at QB 12 – 0 at TOhioStateUniversity .
