The ‘Vectormap’ update is one of the largest updates to the Tygron Engine. It affects almost all parts of the software and contains several other improvements. It is planned to be released in Q1 of 2015 according to our Roadmap The City Map is the center of focus in the 3D world. It is the main stage for plannig constructions, demolitions, measures and land transactions. Within the city map, indicators and effects are calculated and overlays are visualized. It is surrounded by a static map, called the surrounding map. The Vectormap project started by changing the basic data infrastructure of the City Map from a grid to vector form. This allows the 3D World to be represented in a far more realistic way compared to before. In the pictures below you can see the difference. This new map structure also changes the way buildings are visualized in the 3D World. The two pictures below are rendered from the maps above. Besides the visual aspects also the various calculation models running on the data become more realistic. For example the surface size of a building is used to determine its price (price per m2 * floors * surface size). When the surface size is more accurate the derived building price will also be more accurate. This new data structure also allows the Tygron Engine to better connect to Geographic Information System (GIS) systems and incorporate the large amounts of available GIS data in the project setup. To make this connection happen we are working together with Esri. Esri is specialized in GIS data and our tools connect to, and import data from, both publicly available Open data and privately owned data from customers hosted on their servers. Currently the citymap size is limited to 1,5 km. Over time, this amount will increase as we will further improve the performance. For more details on this scedueled improvements, see the RD Roadmap.
