On September 18th, 2015 the old National Atlas Web Mapping Services and Web Feature Mapping Services will be shut down. The National Atlas web services were made available beyond their originally scheduled shutdown date of September 30, 2014 to allow users access to small-scale web services until the new web services were made available in the summer of 2015. The National Map offers Web Map Services (WMS) that lets you connect to the small-scale data using your Web browser, geographic information system (GIS), or desktop mapping program to visualize and dynamically access and retrieve small-scale data. You can connect to nationalmap.gov to display or use our data in your own maps and applications. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) provides open standards for a variety of web services. The new web services are now available through the ESRI REST services API and in the following open formats listed in the table below.
