Pan Am Germany and Austria diagram, 1958
A Pan Am diagram of Germany and Austria services from a 15 January 1958 timetable.
These mid-century timetable cum map diagrams fascinate us. They graphically accomplish two functions – a timetable (six flights each direction between Berlin and Frankfurt) and map – though neither exceptionally. You need to be able to read small print to for the timetable, though the limited network makes the map relatively easy to follow.
Pan Am operated its internal-German services until it was sold to Lufthansa in 1990.
