Small guide: How to work with the vector map?

You can: Mass select objects by type and color - for example, the objects type "building" (they are usually dark gray) - and remove them from the map, if you do not need them in your print or design project. You can also easily change the thickness of lines (streets), just bulk selection the road by the line color.
The streets are separated by type, for example, type "residential road" are usually white with a gray stroke. Highway usually orange with a brown or dark gray stroke.
It is easy to change the font of inscriptions, all or each individually. Also, just can be make and any other manipulation of objects on the vector map in Adobe illustrator format.
Important: All the proportions on the map are true, that is, the relative sizes of the objects are true, because Map is based on an accurate GPS projection, and It transated into the (usual for all) the Mercator projection.
You can easily change the color, stroke and fill of any object on the map, zoom without loss of quality Image Verification.

Tips & Vector map News

Cartographic Skills - Final Project       In a news article published by The Washington Post in 2015, reporter
Max Ehrenfreund stated that “As of 2010, the average, upper-income 50-year-old
man was expected to live to 89.  But the
same man, if he’s lower income, would live to just 76, according to the
report.”  For my final project for GIS
3015 Cartographic Skills, I decided to create my own project scenario showing
life expectancy and median household income in the United States.  Using the cartographic skills that I learned throughout
the course, my objective is to prove that people with higher income had longer
life expectancy.

Finding the correct data was the most time consuming aspect of this
final project.  I spent lots of hours searching
online trying to find data that was importable in ArcMap that came from
legitimate sources.  I acquire the most
current median household income information from US Census Bureau’s website as
an Excel format.  Household income
information was a 3-Year Average from 2011 to 2013.  For life expectancy, I found a 2013-2014
report from Measure of America that showed life expectancy (ages) broken down
by states in a table as a PDF format.
Lastly, I decided to show the top 10 best places to live in the US from
U.S. News website for 2016.

I chose choropleth thematic method for mapping median household income
data because it is ideal when mapping data such as state boundaries.  The choropleth thematic map of median
household income was unstandardized using the default Natural Breaks (Jenks)
data classification method with five classes because I thought it did a better
job of grouping similar data as opposed to defined interval, quantile, and
standard deviation.  For my second
thematic method, I used proportional symbol on mapping life expectancy data by
ages.  Again, I used the default “Natural
Breaks (Jenks)” data classification method that was unstandardized with five
classes for proportional symbols.

Finally, I used Adobe Illustrator to do some final touch ups by adding
3D text effect on the map title, adding drop shadows to the proportional
symbols, and adding arrows pointing to the inset maps.Final map shows a trend in the southern states generally having the
lowest median household income with lowest life expectancy.  Most northeastern states had the highest
median household income with higher life expectancy.  I was a little surprised to see California
ranking somewhere in the middle in the median household income category despite
having cities like San Jose and San Francisco offering highest salaries in the
nation.  Although there are many factors
affecting life expectancy, I have proven my assumption and objective that
higher median household income results in longer life expectancy. Source.
