The road maps are created from the original 24’x 36′ State of Connecticut DOT road map. The road maps are saved at 300 dpi and will print on a color printer. To print smaller sections of the state use the county road maps. The outline maps are composed of white background / black outline with town names included. This is a vector (‘drawn’) image of the Connecticut town map. It is in Portable Document Format (PDF), also known as Acrobat format. It can be viewed and printed with the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded without charge from the Adobe web site. This format preserves the formatting and look of paper documents, which is why we also use it to present our monthly Connecticut Economic Digest and out Town Profiles on the Internet. The image quality of this format is much better than the GIF format. This is an encapsulated PostScript file of the Connecticut town map. It is of equal quality with the PDF format, and can be embedded in documents created by many desktop publishing systems and word processors. You may be unable to print it out unless you have a PostScript printer, however. This is a raster (‘scanned’) image of the Connecticut town map. It is 1569 pixels wide by 1141 pixels high. The town names are readable but not of high quality. To produce the highest quality output, we recommend that you download and use one of the vector formats. This format, however, is viewable directly by your browser without requiring any special software. Source.
