I have a series of raster files with the CRS EPSG:5714. I need to define this CRS in QGIS but I’m fairly new to this and have no idea how to define the proj4 CRS for this. I searched at spatialreference.org but the proj4 information is blank. Can anyone help me define it in QGIS. QGIS can only handle 2-dimensional CRS correctly, so there is no chance to get it defined as custom CRS. You are not doing wrong, I get the same strange result here. The testing box works well with projected CRS. I’m not sure if its a bug or a feature. If you want to make coordinate transformations, you could use cs2cs. You have set up a string for a geographic (lat/lon) CRS. I guess that your old mexican maps are in some kind of projected CRS with units in metres or feet, so this custom CRS might not yet be that what you want to. @underdark made me realize that I didn’t actually press save while defining the CRS. So, what I needed to do was first click save, and then to click ok. The projection then showed up fine. Source.
