Asia is the largest part of the world.
Europe and Asia form the continent of Eurasia. It is separated from North America by the Bering Strait, and from Africa by the Red Sea and the Suez canal, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles from Europe.
The conventional continental border with Europe passes through the Eastern Urals and the coast of the Caspian Sea. Together with the surface of the Caspian sea occupies 44.4 million km2, which is 30% of the land surface.
The territory of Asia includes numerous peninsulas (Arabian, Indian, Indochina, Asia Minor, Taimyr) and Islands (Malay, Philippine, Japanese archipelago).
Asia has the highest point of the planet Qomolangma, or Everest (8848 m), and the deepest point is the Dead Sea (405 m below sea level).
The climate of Asia varies from Subpolar and polar in the far North to tropical, very humid in the South-East and tropical extremely dry in the South-West, but most of the climate is continental. Asia is home to 3.4 billion people, representing approximately 60% of the world’s population.
Most of them are representatives of yellow and white races. About 90% of the population is concentrated in South-East Asia, and the highlands and deserts are uninhabited areas.
The largest rivers in Asia — Yangtze, yellow, Ob with Irtysh, Mekong, Lena, Yenisei. The largest lakes are the Caspian Sea, the Aral Sea, Baikal, Balkhash.
Asia is the cradle of great religions: Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam.
