Some time back, the National Geographic Society changed the projection of their world map from the Robinson to the Winkel Tripel projection. The colorful maps include cities, landmarks, rivers, and country information as well as Arctic and Antarctic inset maps. The Classic series includes blue oceans and easy-to-read colorful boundaries. Features include thousands of named places such as countries, oceans, major cities, geographic features: prevailing winds and ocean currents at sea, insets showing the North and South Polar Regions, world vegetation and land use, and world population density. While this colorful map is a political map it nevertheless shows physical topography on land and under the oceans. National boundaries are emphasized and rich, contrasting colors clearly delineate each country. Insets show world vegetation cover and landforms. A contrasting dark black border makes this world map a striking wall display. ‘A map is the greatest of all epic poems. Its lines and colors show the realization of great dreams.’ Source.
