This course will provide students with a solid foundation of working in Adobe Photoshop. We will begin by building a foundation of selection techniques and then focus on arguably the most important feature in Photoshop to organize and creatively add effects to your work: the Layers Panel. The various types of layers will be demonstrated and discussed. Including Fill Layers, Adjustment Layers, Text Layers and the basics of Layer Masks. Students will then be introduced to Photoshop's basic creative/retouching tools including the clone stamp, healing brush, text and the color replacement techniques. The image adjustment menu will also be used to introduce color correction. Filters, image size, resizing, and proper file management will also be discussed, along with outputting your image in various formats and purposes (web/print/pdf). About the Instructor: Ken Durso is an Adobe Certified Instructor and avid photographer and web designer who works with and teaches: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Adobe Edge Animate, HTML, CSS and web design. Before starting his own business he’s worked for Macromedia (now part of Adobe). His private clients include Apple, NASA Ames, Cisco Systems and many more. He’s taught at San Francisco State, San Jose State, and Bay Area Video Coalition among others. Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based application that is widely used in illustration, technical drawing, document creation, logo design, and much more. Through hands-on exercises and demonstrations this course will reveal the creative capabilities of Illustrator. Precise control of Bézier curves, use of color and gradients, dynamic type and 3D effects will be discussed in detail. Students will gain a working knowledge of Illustrator for various projects: print, web and document creation, including how it interacts with the rest of the Adobe Suite.
