PDF files are increasingly popular for creating both text and image files that are easily ported between different programs. Most people have Adobe Acrobat or some similar PDF reader, but these readers are only readers and do not allow for editing. Visio is a Microsoft product with which you can draw diagrams, organizational charts, process charts, technical drawings and more. It can also be used to edit your PDF files without a special PDF-editing program. Open Adobe Acrobat. Magnify it to 1000 percent. If the lines look jagged or boxy, then your PDF file was created from a scanned image. If the PDF image was scanned, then you cannot edit this file in Visio. Note that you need to do this step even if your PDF file is just plain text without pictures. Open the pdf2picture program. Select WMF / EMF vector mode. Convert your PDF file to a WMF file by following the prompts. WMF, which stands for Windows MetaFile, is the vector graphic format used by Windows, this conversion will allow Visio to work with the PDF file. Select 'Open' and then 'File.' Select 'WMF.' Choose the PDF file that you wish to convert. The file will open up in the Visio program. Select 'Shape,' 'Grouping' and then 'Ungroup.' This will separate the file into a collection of individual objects that are each editable. Edit the file according to your wishes. Save the file as a Visio drawing. This attachment is a DWG file that was made out of your PDF file. Start Visio. Click on the menu named Windows or File, depending on the edition you have, and then click 'Open.' Open your converted DWG file. Right-click on the DWG file icon that appears on the screen. Select 'CAD Drawing Option' and then click 'Convert.' Choose the options you want and then click 'OK.'
