Miller cylindrical projection | Vector maps of cities and countries in Adobe Illustrator: editable, scalable, printable

The Miller cylindrical projection is a modified Mercator projection, proposed by Osborn Maitland Miller (1897–1979) in 1942. The latitude is scaled by a factor of 4/5, projected according to Mercator, and then the result is multiplied by 5/4 to retain scale along the equator.[1] Hence: where λ is the longitude from the central meridian of the projection, and is the latitude. Meridians are thus about 0.733 the length of the equator. projection — Synonyms and related words: Lambert conformal projection, Mercator projection, Miller projection, acting, actualization, aeronautical chart, alienation, alphabet, archery, art, astronomical chart, atlas, autism, autistic thinking, avoidance… … Moby Thesaurus Map projection — A medieval depiction of the Ecumene (1482, Johannes Schnitzer, engraver), constructed after the coordinates in Ptolemy s Geography and using his second map projection A map projection is any method of representing the surface of a sphere or other … Wikipedia Osborn Maitland Miller Medal — The Osborn Maitland Miller Cartographic Medal was established in 1968 by the American Geographical Society Council.
