Can anyone perlease explain why certain objects will only be filled with greyscale - I slect a colour and it defaults to the grey tonal equivalent. Geth ilustrator cs, winxp pro... ....an easier way to do it is to select the object, select either its Fill or its Stroke, then bring up the Color palette (Shift-F6). In the palette's flyout menu (under the little black triangle in the upper-right corner of the palette) select the color space you want to use for your Fill (Stroke): Grayscale, RGB, HSB, CMYK, Web safe RGB. Another option is to Shift-click the color map area at the bottom of the Color palette (the horizontal rectangle below the sliders in the Color palette, filled with the actual color space representation). Every Shift-click will switch to the next color space in the list. Source.
