Tutorial “A Boy and a Dog Chasing a Frisbee” | Anastasiia Ku

This tutorial shows you how to create a cartoon illustration of a boy and a dog chasing a frisbee. The knowledge of the tutorial may be used for illustrating children’s stories or making a cover illustration, children’s t-shirts, sticker, or other purposes. I sarted with a sketch of a boy and his dog running after the frisbee, so it is easier to visualize them and start working in CorelDRAW: – Use FreeHand Tool to draw the shape of the boy’s cheeks and nose, select 2 objects: face and cheeks with nose (a), intersect them (a/Arrange >, Shaping >, Intersect), – Use FreeHand Tool to draw the shade on the nose, and the highlight on the right cheek, Use Ellipse Tool to draw holes in the ears (c), – Use FreeHand Tool to draw the outlines of the neck, hands, legs, shorts, t-shirt, and shoes, color them (a), – Use FreeHand Tool to draw the right fist and flaps on shorts (red square- b), draw the shape of the left sole, intersect it with the left shoe, change the color into a dark grey, draw the shape of the toe of the right shoe (blue square- b), – Draw the shape of the front part of the t-shirt which would separate the sleeves from the chest part, if the shape goes off the borders of the t-shirt (a), then select both objects and intersect them, slightly change the color of the new object (blue square- b), – Use FreeHand Tool to draw body, ears, tail, and legs (to put an object to front of page: Ctrl+Home, to put an object to back of page: Ctrl+End), – Draw tummy: an oval shape intersect with the dog’s body, change the color into a light brown (blue square), – Draw a tongue, and shades under the nose and near the right leg, using Intersect command (blue squares): – Use Ellipse Tool or FreeHand Tool to draw 2 ovals like on the picture below, intersect them (Arrange=>,Shaping=>,Intersect), change the color of the intersected object into a lighter blue: Currently you have JavaScript disabled.
